Economic Recovery in Springs to begin in 2010

The Southern Colorado Economic Forum met last week and indicated that the recession is over and Colorado Springs should begin an economic recovery in 2010. With the troops moving in and unemployment slowing, Colorado Springs appears to be on it’s way to recovery. Read more here.

HVCC Impact on Home Financing

The Home Value Code of Conduct (HVCC) recently enacted this summer is having a detrimental impact on homebuyers and homesellers desiring to purchase or sell a home. The new policy severely controls the ability of appraisers to perform reliable valuations. In addition, lenders and realtors are no longer able to directly communicate with appraisers in order to assure their clients of accurate appraisals.
The net result . . . many real estate deals are falling apart due to inaccurate valuations by appraisers not knowledgeable about neighborhood which the property is located in. Learn more here and sign the petition to withdraw this policy.

Tax Credit for Military Personnel

The new expanded tax credit allows some special provisions for military personnel. The Congress and President passed the new extension and expanded version of the tax credit such that military personnel serving overseas for at least 90 days will be able to claim the tax credit through June 30, 2011.
